Satisfaction of Residents & VisitorsSub-indicator 7 of 16

Accessibility

Tours are designed to include a wide range of visitors

Responsible tourism should be available to as many people as possible. This sub-indicator examines whether operators have genuinely considered accessibility in tour design — providing alternatives for people with reduced mobility, sensory impairments, or other needs — and whether they communicate provisions clearly.

Whether the tour is designed to be accessible to a wide range of visitors, including those with reduced mobility or special needs.

How RTA measures this

The same sub-indicator is assessed from two sides: operators self-assess their performance; travellers rate their experience. Both use a 1–5 scale.

Operator self-assessment

How well did this tour accommodate visitors with varying needs, including those with reduced mobility?

  1. 1Our tour is not handicapped-friendly and difficult for children.
  2. 2The tour is accessible to children but not to disabled people.
  3. 3The tour is accessible to people with minor disabilities as explained in our tour description.
  4. 4We are exploring solutions for making our tour accessible to all, based on advice from associations for disabled people. And/or: we are developing tools (audio guide, braille, etc.) for persons with impaired vision and the deaf. And/or: our tour is accessible for all disabled with their own accompanying caretaker.
  5. 5In addition to the foregoing, we have specially trained guides who are able to assist disabled people and have adapted our tour to most forms of disability or impairment. And/or: we obtained a Tourism and Handicap certification / label.
